Redlands sits east of San Bernardino, built on citrus-industry wealth in the late 1800s and early 1900s: the ornate Victorian and Craftsman homes in its historic districts are a real legacy of that era. Today it’s home to the University of Redlands and to Esri, the mapping-software company headquartered here, and its well-preserved downtown is one of the more distinctive in the Inland Empire.
